Carrie Otterson combines traditional fabrication techniques and wire with colorful gemstones to create her distinctive lines of jewelry. Influenced by her love for adventure and inspired by her time spent living in South America, her jewelry is functional and unpretentious, with a complexity and richness of texture and color that defines her style. "It is jewelry meant to be lived in," emphasizes Otterson. Having been introduced to jewelry making as a child, she launched her jewelry career in 1998 with one-of-a-kind and limited edition designs. In early 2003 she began designing collections for limited production, which are handcrafted in her studio.
About her design style, Otterson muses, "I design for the woman who likes to blaze her own trails. I love individual components that work together to create movement in jewelry and am fascinated by lines and geometric shapes. These elements tend to drive my designs." From the rustic and free-spirited feel of her Wired West and Contemporary Bohemian Collections to the refined luxury and subtle sophistication of her Las Líneas and Halo Collections, her work is fresh and distinctive.
Carrie Otterson resides with her family in Southeastern Kentucky where she is constantly testing the functionality of her jewelry. Her jewelry collections can be found online and in stores at select locations nationwide.
